Commercial Marine Engines
If your boat pays the bills, a tired engine is a business problem, not a mechanical one. We supply the brand new diesel and petrol engines that Australian operators build their marine repowers around — the same fresh, zero-hour blocks we ship to workshops nationwide, at a fraction of what a factory-marinised unit costs. If you’re pricing a commercial marine engine and the quotes are making your eyes water, start here.
Brand new, not rebuilt, no exchange
Most marine repower quotes land on a reconditioned unit or an exchange program where you send your old engine in and hope the replacement is better than what you pulled out. We don’t work that way. Every engine we ship is brand new with zero hours — new block, new internals, no previous life, no core charge, no waiting for your old unit to clear inspection before yours goes out.
When you’re buying a commercial marine engine, that matters twice over. You get a known starting point rather than an unknown service history, and you get the boat back in the water without a two-week core exchange dance in the middle of your season.
What we supply, and what your mariniser handles
Straight answer: we supply the engine. What gets fitted to it — raw-water cooling, heat exchanger, marine exhaust, gearbox and mounts — depends on your vessel and how your mariniser or installer wants it configured. Some jobs come to us wanting the base engine only. Others want us involved further up the chain. We work it out case by case rather than pretending one package fits every hull.
Tell us the vessel, the current engine and what your installer needs, and we’ll tell you honestly what we can cover and what you’ll source elsewhere. That’s a faster conversation than reading a spec sheet.
Choosing the right commercial marine engine for your vessel
Four things drive it:
- Hull and displacement — a planing hull and a displacement hull of the same length want very different power delivery.
- Hours per year — a charter boat doing 800 hours a season is a different proposition to a weekend tender.
- Drivetrain — shaft, sterndrive or jet, and the reduction ratio your gearbox runs.
- Physical fit — engine bay envelope, bed spacing and shaft alignment, especially on a like-for-like repower.
Get those right and the rest follows. Get them wrong and you’ll fight the installation for as long as you own the boat.
Backed properly
- Free shipping Australia-wide — fully insured and tracked, dispatched from our Gold Coast warehouse.
- Warranty included — standard cover on every engine, with extended Platinum cover available at checkout.
- Heat tab monitoring — so warranty assessment is based on evidence, not argument.
- Real people on the phone — talk to someone who knows the engines, not a call centre.
Warranty requires installation by a licensed mechanic with a tax invoice, which for a commercial vessel you’ll be doing anyway.
Frequently asked questions
Can an automotive diesel be used as a commercial marine engine? It’s one of the most common repower paths in Australia — a large share of small commercial craft run marinised automotive blocks. The engine needs proper marinisation to survive the environment, which is where your installer comes in. Talk to us about the specific engine and application before you commit.
Do you have the engine I need? Our marine range is growing. If the engine you’re after isn’t listed yet, call us — we ship 170+ engine variants and can often source the block you need even when it isn’t on this page.
How long does delivery take? Typically 6–8 business days Australia-wide, insured and tracked. Express is available if you’re up against a slipway booking.
Is a new engine really cheaper than rebuilding mine? Once you add up machining, parts, labour and the risk of a rebuild that doesn’t hold, a brand new engine is frequently the cheaper answer — and it’s certainly the more predictable one. Happy to run the numbers with you on your specific engine.
